Druidism and Christianity

Since September 2010, the Charity Commission (British government agency responsible for charities) has granted the status of the charity Druid Network, an organization that brings followers of Druidism. In France this current New Age is alive, not just in Britain. Should we take him seriously?

Neither more nor less than the New Age movement itself which finds the best and worst. You should also know that we do not know much about the doctrine of the Druids. One can also think, and I do, that the Druids never entirely disappeared, except they have been involved in Christian monasticism or have been relegated to the bottom of our campaigns to become witches and other quacks .

The Celtic Church of Ireland maintained a long tradition of Celtic hermit before "Brought to heel" by Rome in the 6th siècle.Mais Celtic spirituality survived in large monastic Benedictines and Cistercians. St. Bernard himself proclaimed that, I quote: "You will find more things in the woods than in books. Trees and stones will teach you what the masters do not teach you." Remembered as the friend of St. Bernard, St. Malachi, Malachy O'Morghair, bishop of Armagh in Ireland, was an old hermit in the mystical tradition and Celtic Druids.

My advice is to seek initiation Druidism into Christianity, as much or more than among the neo-Druids. The doctrine of these latter is necessarily reconstructed artificially, because the teaching of the Druids was not transmitted in writing, but orally. It took 20 years of oral studies under the guidance of a teacher to be recognized druid. It is known that the Druids taught reincarnation and the worship of nature spirits. In Britain the cult of the spirits of springs or sacred sites has been replaced by the worship of local saints in Brittany. One can also say that the cult of the Mother Goddess was replaced by Marian devotion around the figure of Mary. Similarly, the goddess Ana Gallic sanctuary of Le Puy en Velay, was replaced by the Virgin Mary while in Britain it became his cult of St. Anne. Druids were also transmitted the knowledge of plants, that of traditional medicine and that of dowsing becoming wizards of our campaigns (sorcerer comes divining)

Can we go back to Druidism in our society and looking disoriented benchmarks? Why not for those for whom it is an ersatz spiritual path. But it is probably better advised to stay in Christianity in order to recapture the spirit of the natural and universal religion which underlies all genuine spirituality, monastic orders used this approach in a marked but it is a lane reserved for very little indeed, and probably unpopular in Rome. Too bad for Christianity, especially Roman, would have needed the life-giving journey of faith, which is free and mysticism of the Celtic Druids became Benedictine, Cistercian or just pilgrims of truth hidden in the heart of every human being. For druids the fundamental truth is that the human being is a soul in transit on this earth through Ab red, meaning the cycle of necessity, in which the Spirit suffered its various incarnations
