We are in Huaraz, north of Lima in the Cordillera Blanca. These are our 15 days in this world tour ...
This part of the Cordillera of the Andes Mountains offers its more than 5000 m and the possibilities of treks ranging from 1 to 15 days ...
What a pleasure to choose!
For us it will be 2 treks please. But before that, taste the culinary specialties of Peru, the " ceviche ', raw fish cooked in lemon juice ...
This "ceviche" is delicious and ... makes a change from potatoes! !
The belly well filled, the turn of the backpack. Branch rental equipment ... sleeping bag, tent poles, Meals ... what the total ... not to mention the food ... hummm good dried pasta!!
And here we go:
Quilcayhuanca Trek: 3 days / 2 nights, from her. 11 to read. August 13
Difficulty: great!
Distance: No idea!
Denivelle : see above!
That's the theory ... a map or a drawing instead of the road, with a neck passage and not mark it seems very difficult to find ... It starts, confident!
"After making inquiries at the guide house in Huaraz, we choose to go on a trek alone and unguided, for reasons of economy but also to experience one last adventure to the backpacker!
Helene
1:30
"I'm attacking! It's 6:47! Last day promises to be long ..." Helene
Our card save -which may, for a drawing against the "paso Huapi" has some 5200 m. .. But where is the IGN? It was lost to the rescue ...
Custom hiker who wants every pupil the "hitos", the "cairn" so that the path is always well spotted ...
The it gets really hot! It is near the top but the conditions are dangerous ... We are very cautious and are moving forward step by step ...
Listen!
Santa Cruz Trek: 4 days / 3 nights, from me. 15 to her. August 18
difficulty: average!
Distance: No idea!
Denivelle : see above!
Version video to your ears and eyes.
mules, mules ... They are those of a group which will follow the same path as us during the four days. We're in agreement and in the future we also rent, mule!
Behind Oliver, right, the mountain that is the pride of Peru, Alpamayo (5947), one of the physical world has to climb .. .
Finally, some landslides that make the path ... more fun!
And that's it! Last trek of the journey ... Petit souvenir photo with Eddy.
" Before leaving, a small (!) Specialty of Peru, the "CUY" (for pronunciation, the "U" is pronounced "OR" and "Y" is "ITY" I let you appreciate !)... is the guinea pig. I love ... "Olivier
And leaving 6:00 into the mat a little "break-slab" very nice!
Well we embarked on this first day and after 1 hour bus, I left my kiki!
And already the second day. Physically you feel good, today we should face the toughest, a passage from a 5200 m pass. However, no indication of the way ... apart from a small scheme designed by the hirer and the explanations of gender "when you see the mountain in front of you, take a right and then left a very small way, be careful it is not very visible ...! "
(we are still a few 5000 and every step is an effort ...) 1:30
After walking more and more risky, we refrain from continuing on the path and begin a half-turn. We pass by luck / happiness a local guide who takes us back on track ... but does not recommend that we try to cross the pass. Henceforth he is too late to hope to spend the night before ... Wow! What then? Give up and turn around or move up to our possibilities and make the last day all the end of the trek?
We chose the latter and walked boldly toward the summit.
We chose the latter and walked boldly toward the summit.
's it, the third and last day normally ... a lot of walking and difficulties in perspective ...

is argued, relying sometimes on one and then another in the vastness.
Custom hiker who wants every pupil the "hitos", the "cairn" so that the path is always well spotted ...
The it gets really hot! It is near the top but the conditions are dangerous ... We are very cautious and are moving forward step by step ...
Listen!
And things get complicated ... we do not find the way back down. So we draw straight through the boulders, in very steep slopes, with a little fatigue and sometimes uncontrolled slides!
In fact we actually walk up to 4 hours out of park ... It is then 18.00 and the sun turns off in the distance ... but to meet a bus to take us back to town, we still have to walk two hours on a runway ... Fortunately, After 30 minutes, we see a car off ... Our luck! We throw ourselves on the way to request a stop taking life-saving ... thank you! We will

mules, mules ... They are those of a group which will follow the same path as us during the four days. We're in agreement and in the future we also rent, mule!
And here we already tomorrow! Our mule has arrived earlier (0800) with another companion, Eddie, a very nice English. We Arrimon our bags on mules, and forward one step lighter!
And above the "pass" a 4750 m. .. still a nice effort ... and that is why we chose to rent mules!
Little paragraph for you to notice the efforts made to find adjectives to describe this varied environment ... Thank you for your support!
And classic treks: once at the top, the descent
few hours of walking rather easy and arrived in camp this second day.
.......... Good night ............ .......................
Ding! Ding! Go up! Third and penultimate day of walking. A short climb and then descend slowly towards the camp. We paid and thanked our mule. For the past two days, we'll make even porting our bags.
Behind Oliver, right, the mountain that is the pride of Peru, Alpamayo (5947), one of the physical world has to climb .. .
For the remainder of the journey, the view behind us, few photos you may have. Please be aware that we lose sight of the group with whom we walked, and we find a campsite in late afternoon, although few of these labors 10 hours of walking.
And there it is: last day of trek. The end all wars ...

And after this restaurant, so as not to leave immediately, direction ( then it is almost midnight, that's sixteen hours that we are standing ) a night club!
For those who were worried about the bag of clean laundry, no worries, he spent the evening on a speaker in the box!
And leaving 6:00 into the mat a little "break-slab" very nice!
What last day !
Twenty two hours of intense activity.
